DANIEL, ESCHATOLOGY OF

OTHER WORLD RULERS

Daniel also predicted the rise of the “Little horn” Who was Antiochus Epiphanies, historically described in 1 Maccabees 1-6. In Daniel 8 the prophet see a two horn ram representing the Medo-Persian Empire. The ram pushes “westward, northward, and south ward (8:4) with furious intensity and expands the kingdom of the Persians. With keen prophetic insight Daniel for-tells the harsh conquest of the medo-persian Empire       ( 539- 331 B.C )But than he see a male goat that would be Alexander the Great (8:6-7 ). Daniel than predicts the breaking up of Alexander’s Empire into four parts (8:8) and describes the coming of Antiochus ( 8:9-10,23-25)

THE ANTICHRIST

In 11:36-45 Daniel predict the coming of the Antichrist. In Chapter 7 the prophet also described him as “another horn, a little one…. with eyes like the eyes like a man and a mouth uttering great boast( 7:8 ). He is the other horn (7:20 ), the one who dominion “will be taken away, annihilated and destroyed for ever” (7:26) The Apostle pick up the description and call this one ” the man of lawlessness” and “the son of destruction” ( 2 Thessalonians 2:3 ) and the lawless one (2:8) Who will some day in a rebuild Temple in Jerusalem be “displaying him self as being God” (2:4 ). The Apostle John refer to him in ! John 2:18,22; 4:3; and 2 John 7. He especially mentions him in The Book of Revelation, beginning in Chapter 13.

THE RESURRECTION

Daniel’s final great Prophecy has to do with the future resurrection of the Old testament saints. “Many of those who sleep in the dust will awake, these to everlasting lie, but the others the lost to disgrace and everlasting contempt” (Daniel 12:2 ). The righteous will shine forever like the stars(12:3). It is interesting to note that here, Daniel understands that both the righteous and the unrighteous exist into eternity. Those who have rejected God do not experience “soul sleep”.

DANIEL’S INTERPRETATION OF PROPHECY

Daniel’s Prophecy contain much imagery, but what he envisioned and Prophesied is to be taken in a full historical, normal, and literal sense. Behind Daniel’s imagery is a literal fulfillment. As well, the imagery is about actual people and nations that either existed in the days of Daniel or would come on the world stage in the future.

In his prophecies, Daniel portrays the course of the Gentile Word power– “the times of the Gentiles Powers”( Luke 21:24 ). And through the passage of History, We have seen many of these prophecies fulfilled. Stilled to come is the event in which great nations are destroyed by a fifth Kingdom (the Messiah’s ) which is depicted as a stone cut out with out hands ( Daniel 2:34-45 ). Because of Daniel Great faithfulness, God promises him the he will enter into rest and will “rose again for his allotted portion and reward at the end of the age ( 12:13) ————- MAL COUCH
